About Us
“Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”
â€â€Hebrews‬ â€11:16‬ â€NIV‬‬

Scripture describes a place; on earth; whose glory eclipses the normal human lived experience. It reads like pure fantasy - yet there it is in the text - unquestionably literal - the place it calls the City of God.
Questions of when, where and for who this city exists abound. I don't have definitive answers, what I do have is the example of the believers of old who also were searching for a city. Even though they didn't have all the facts about its nature, they saw it "from afar", longed for it and looked forward to it. They setup their worlds in anticipation of it. They lived their lives as evidence of things unseen - living prophecies - beckoning the impossible city forward.

thecityofgod.co seeks to capture the spirit of the ancients. It's an exploration of how to live our lives for the realisation of the City of God. It is structured with content built around 5 components found in scripture that describe the "City of God" as it is portrayed in the Bible.
Wherever this journey leads, one thing I am certain of is that God is “a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." And if we don’t find what we are looking for in our lifetime, perhaps, as it was with our ancestors, our children will succeed because we believed.
Our Story
It is June 19, 2022. Launch day for thecityofgod.co, but more importantly its Fathers Day. My wife and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and have two early-teen kids - a daughter and her younger brother. I have been in ministry for over 15 years. Many of those as the senior leader of a local congregation within a larger Church group in Cape Town. In addition to being a minister I am a creative and was trained as an Engineer. Even though I view ministry as my primary life expression, I firmly believe it is to God's glory that I make the most of the other areas that form who I am. In my quest to do so I developed a driving conviction to define my endeavours more clearly within the context of the eternal Kingdom of God. What does a world defined by the glory of God look like? Earlier this year I attended a Christian gathering that left a much needed deposit in my soul. I don't know what it was for the others but for me it was personal revival. With it came a fiery process of clarifying my vision... and so was born thecityofgod.co.
A powerful symbol
The icon below is not so much a logo as it is a kind of personal coat of arms. On it are 5 emblems, each representing a key facet of the City of God. For me it has become a crest of kingdom citizenry. A badge representing my allegiance, worship and service to the king of glory. This icon, to me, is a symbol of my identification with, longing and continual search for the city of God.

But also, its a symbol you can press any time you want to return to the home page. Go ahead, give it try...
